Multi-stack marketers

T-shaped is getting replaced. What’s thriving instead: multi-stack marketers with 2 or 3 real skill areas, on teams where those stacks complement each other.

We did a strengths workshop recently.

The best part wasn’t discovering individual skills. It was seeing how people complemented each other.

We talk a lot about T-shaped marketers. One deep skill, broad awareness. That model is getting replaced.

What I’m seeing survive and thrive are multi-stack marketers. People with 2 to 3 real skill areas, not just one. And when you build a team where those stacks are different and complementary, that’s a superpower.

One person owns paid and content. Another owns product marketing and enablement. Another owns SEO and lifecycle. They don’t overlap. They cover each other.

Full-stack is a great goal to have. But a team of complementary multi-stack people is a really powerful combination too.
