We’re already seeing more content, more campaigns, more landing pages than any human could produce in a lifetime. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Most of it will be forgettable.
Not because AI is bad at producing it. Because volume was never what made marketing work.
What cuts through is taste. A real point of view. Something that feels like it came from an actual person who believed something.
AI can’t give you that. Not yet. Maybe not ever in the way that matters.
There’s something the industry is starting to call creative judgment or artistic flavor. It’s the thing that makes a campaign feel like it belongs to a brand and not just a brief. It comes from experience, taste, and genuinely caring about the work. You can’t prompt your way to it.
The more you scale with AI, the more at risk that flavor becomes. Content that looks right but feels like nobody was home. Campaigns that are technically correct and completely forgettable.
And it happens gradually. You ship more. Things move faster. Reviews get lighter. The human judgment that used to sit at every step gets skipped because there’s no time. The brand starts to drift. Not dramatically. Just enough that it stops feeling like you.
That’s the risk nobody talks about enough. Not that AI will produce something obviously bad. That it will produce something good enough to ship but not good enough to matter.
This is where governance comes in. Not as a blocker. As a protector.
Before you build with AI, the questions worth asking are: does this actually need AI? Are the outputs repeatable and reliable? How does it handle your brand across regions, cultures, contexts? What happens when it gets something wrong?
In marketing, these things get amplified fast. A landing page that’s off-brand in one market. A campaign that doesn’t account for a recent update. A message that feels generic because nobody with taste reviewed it.
Governance isn’t about slowing things down. It’s about making sure the things you ship are worth shipping.
The brands that stand out in an AI-saturated world will be the ones that protected their point of view. That kept the human judgment in the loop. That treated taste as a strategic asset, not a nice-to-have.
Taste plus governance. That’s the combination.
